A bulletproof vest is as resilient as the materials used in making it. Today, there are tons of bulletproof vest manufacturers out there now. It is important that you keep your eyes peeled before making a purchase. Bulletproof vests are very potent in the face of real-time ballistic threats. This is why they have grown to become a key part of many agencies’ uniform. However, for the sake of curiosity, one would wonder what kind makes a vest powerful enough to halt the force of a speeding bullet.

Bulletproof vests are made up of several panels. Each panel is designed like a vest-shaped sheet of advanced plastics polymers. It is primarily composed of many layers of ballistic rated materials, such as aramid fibers like Kevlar and Spectra Shield. Manufacturers in other countries make use of Twaron, a material that is similar to Kevlar, or Bynema, one that is like Spectra.

Of all these materials, Kevlar is the most common. The Kevlar sheet is made up of layers, woven out of Kevlar thread. On the other hand, the nonwoven Spectra Shield is coated and bonded with resins. Once bonded, it is then compressed and sealed between two sheets of polyethene film. High-quality resins such as Kraton are often used for this.

While the panel is designed to provide protection, it is not designed to provide comfort. Therefore, it is placed in between a fabric shell to provide comfort to the wearer. The shell can either be made from cotton, polyester, or nylon. They might also have some extra layers of padding materials to provide more protection and comfort to the wearer. There are some bulletproof vests that are specifically made to be used in a dangerous situation. They are often built with pouches to hold ballistic plates which would provide added protection in the face of threats.
