Why pocketknives are more useful than you think

If a police officer has a pocketknife as part of their police gear, it is probably not because they need the knife for self-defense when on duty. Knives are lethal weapons. A sidearm or firearm is usually a better option when deadly force is required. An attacker attempting to disable a police officer’s handgun with a knife will most likely not be able to do so. Despite this, pocketknives have their unique purposes.
Police officers need a knife to cut things efficiently. Many things need to be cut on the job, such as boxes, hangers, and even seat belts. Cops can easily carry pocketknives in the trauma plate pocket of a vest. Street rascals will likely threaten police officers with knives. Thus, a cop must be trained and skilled in the use of knives. By increasing their awareness of danger, such activities will make officers safer. Additionally, he/she would have a better chance of responding to an incoming knife threat.
In many jurisdictions, officers who are not legally armed with firearms or cannot afford one can typically choose to carry a knife off-duty. In addition to knives, undercover officers must go into dangerous situations without a firearm. If things go bad, a pocketknife can be a lifesaver. Knives used by uniformed officers are rescue tools. With this knife, you can break windows or glass surfaces with a carbide tip. It could be lifesaving in an emergency when breaking a glass surface like a car window or any other glass surface.
A pocketknife can come in handy as great police gear, especially when a cop is disarmed. Cops trained in using pocketknives as police gear are more likely to survive street brawls and other related scenarios.
